…the foundation upon which the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for Australia has been established and it is a key component upon which all of our programs here at Ardlie Street Early Learning & Kinder are based.
However, our Philosophy serves to reinforce this and truly embed it into all areas of our service – both inside and out. It is reflected in our Core Values and is at the heart of each and every one of our team members.
The Early Years Learning Framework is the Australian Government’s national framework for early childhood education, and is a key component of the National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care which is designed to encourage continuous improvement of education and care services across Australia.
The Early Years Learning Framework defines the principles, practices and outcomes essential to every early learning program and is designed to ensure all children receive high quality learning experiences.
The Framework is constantly updated from best practices around the world and has a strong emphasis on play-based learning with the aim of achieving five overall learning outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
Quality childcare starts here…
At Ardlie Street Early Learning & Kinder, our programs are designed only by experienced and professional early learning educators. Our programs are designed to have a profound, positive impact on your child’s learning, growth and development – both now and into the future – during this most critical and influential period of their life.
We recognise the window of opportunity, during the first 1,000 days of your child’s life, to motivate, inspire and develop their curiosity and eagerness for learning. Through positive experiences and play-based learning, our high quality programs can dramatically improve future educational outcomes.
We put children first. Emphasis is placed on building positive, secure and respectful relationships that foster a sense of belonging and support children in being active and involved learners. Our educators take a holistic approach to learning and address all areas of your child’s development – physical, cognitive, emotional and social. Our programs offer each child learning experiences that are appropriate to their unique stage of development, therefore promoting positive learning outcomes for all children. Integrated, dynamic and inspiring learning experiences are specifically planned to support children in reaching their fullest potential.
The path the curriculum takes is influenced by your child’s interests, experiences and culture, together with our local community. This helps to ensure that learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for your child and helps them to develop a positive disposition toward learning.
Each week children are provided with the opportunity to participate in both structured and spontaneous learning experiences including:
- Individual and whole group experiences
- Exploring social roles through dramatic play
- Music and movement
- Problem-based learning experiences – such as puzzles and games
- Exploring a range of creating arts
- Experiencing a range of literature and literacy concepts
- Science-based activities that involve observing, hypothesizing and discovery
- Developing social skills such as co-operation, empathy and emotional regulation
- Long-term project based work
